Right after the last Facebook note that Rockstar made, another announcement has been made, along with new screenshots!

Here is the new information on Max Payne 3.

12 years after the event of Max Payne 2, Max finds himself in Sao Paolo, Brazil - where security work is plentiful but the risks are high. When murder and betrayal dog his every step, Max is once again thrust into the heart of a brutal city with nothing but his weapons and his instincts in a desperate search for truth and a way out.

Much more information and media coming soon.

Rockstar has released a new high quality screenshot of Max Payne 3. I can see the blood on the walls (maybe graffiti, I don't know) that reminds me of the dream sequences he had in the previous games. The screenshot was released in a Rockstar note announcing the Game Informer (which can be seen on our About Max Payne 3 section).

I know that retailers release date's are usually unreliable, but when Stick Skills contacted Rockstar, the retailer replied with:

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the release date of Max Payne 3. Please be advised that the release date for this item, currently scheduled for 30/10/09, has been given to us by the developers of the game.

It looks like the release date is official. Payne Killers cannot confidently say this, but from the looks of it, November 30th, 2009 is the release date.

New details from Game Informer

The July issue of Game Informer has provided us a few new details on Max Payne 3.

  • Max's appearance has drastically changed - now he is bald and bearded
  • Max is now addicted to pain killers - and this has an affect on the gameplay.
  • The game takes place in São Paulo, Brazil.
  • Max Payne 3 looks (visually) very similar to Uncharted 2, with vibrant colors and fully destructible environments - powered by Rockstar’s RAGE engine and a procedural animation system (probably Natural Motion's euphoria engine as seen in GTA IV)
  • We can expect many gunfights in urban ghetto Latin American neighborhoods with plenty of new weapons.
  • Bullet Time returns, and this time will be a lot more visceral and ultra-violent.
  • Online multiplayer modes are confirmed.

Max Payne 3 is due out in Winter 2009 for PS3, 360 and PC.

Thanks for the heads up Ivan.
