Max Payne 3 delayed again

09 June 2010 - 12:20 AM

Take 2 today reported it's second quarter fiscal 2010 financial results, revealing that Max Payne 3 has unfortunately been delayed again.

This is the third time the game has been delayed, with Rockstar continuing to concentrate its efforts on other franchises such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. Initially given a "Fall 2009" release, the game was soon delayed until the "first half of 2010". Back in December Max Payne 3 was delayed for the second time and moved into a release slot during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 (August-October).

This latest press release simply says "the launch of Max Payne 3 has been moved out of fiscal 2010". This means the earliest date we will see this game on store shelves is November 2010. Take Two didn't confirm if this would be the case, nor if it would be even later in 2011.

We'll keep you up to date with any announcements regarding a more specific release date.

Forums upgraded to IPB3!

28 August 2009 - 01:21 AM

After several months of dabbling around with IPB3, we've finally decided to upgrade, and here we are on nice shiny new improved forum!

The Skin
As you can see we've already made modifications to the default skin. Apologies to those of you who liked the old one better, we weren't able to convert that. What I've done is integrate the forums into the main website layout, keeping the site 100% consistent throughout.

New Features
IPB3 brings with it a decent amount of new features, I'll give a brief overview here, and Gerard will also go into detail about a few important changes in the following post.

Private Messaging
PM's are now Private Conversations between you and up to 6 other members. It's pretty much the same as the old system really, with the added ability of sharing the conversation with multiple people.

Statuses
Those of you who are active Facebook users will know doubt enjoy using this. From the index page or your profile page you can now tell users what you're currently thinking/doing etc. This will be shown on your profile page.

The Sidebar
On the index page you will have noticed there is now a sidebar. This displays the latest user status updates, recently posted topics, and any forums/topics you are watching (subscribed to for updates).
If this annoys you, you can always hide it by clicking the little X to the top right of it ;)

Of course there are many more. A topic will be posted later with a more in depth explanation to some of the features you may not be aware of or understand fully.

IPB ImageSomeone who knows how to use a scanner properly has made some decent quality scans of the latest Game Informer magazine which we reported on a couple of days ago (see link for the new details).

The scans have made their way on to various gaming sites, and we now have them here on PK.
If you haven't heard the new details yet, check out the link above to educate yourself on this amazing looking game.

Click the thumbnails below to see some awesome artwork and visuals from the game. Looks sweet don't you think?

New details from Game Informer

09 June 2009 - 10:28 PM

The July issue of Game Informer has provided us a few new details on Max Payne 3.

  • Max's appearance has drastically changed - now he is bald and bearded
  • Max is now addicted to pain killers - and this has an affect on the gameplay.
  • The game takes place in São Paulo, Brazil.
  • Max Payne 3 looks (visually) very similar to Uncharted 2, with vibrant colors and fully destructible environments - powered by Rockstar’s RAGE engine and a procedural animation system (probably Natural Motion's euphoria engine as seen in GTA IV)
  • We can expect many gunfights in urban ghetto Latin American neighborhoods with plenty of new weapons.
  • Bullet Time returns, and this time will be a lot more visceral and ultra-violent.
  • Online multiplayer modes are confirmed.
Max Payne 3 is due out in Winter 2009 for PS3, 360 and PC.

Thanks for the heads up Ivan.
